My Vacation in Bali

When I was 3nd grade of senior high school, my friends and I trip to Bali for vacation. We were there for five days. We got many precious experiences during the vacation.
First day, we visited Kuta Beach in the morning. We saw the lovely sunrise there. It was an outstanding view. Then, we checked in to the hotel at the night. After taking a nap at the hotel, we went to Tanah Lot. Tanah lot was nice place. It was lovely place for taking photo. We saw so many tourists there.

Second day, we spent our time on Tanjung Benoa beach. We played water sports at there. We drove banana boat and speed boat. In the afternoon, We went to Penyu island to see unique animals such as big turtles, snake, and sea birds. We felt enjoyed and happy.
The last day, we went to Sangeh. We could enjoy the shady forest. There were so many monkeys. Sometimes the monkey could be naughty. We could be really close with them. After that, we visited to Sukowati Market. I bought Bali T-Shirt, souvenirs and some food for gift there
At the night, we had to check out from the our hotel. We went back home and bring so many unforgettable memories of Bali.

Countable and Uncountable nouns

It's important to distinguish between countable and uncountable nouns in English because their usage is different in regards to both determiners and verbs.

Countable nouns
Countable nouns are for things we can count using numbers. They have a singular and a plural form. The singular form can use the determiner "a" or "an". If you want to ask about the quantity of a countable noun, you ask "How many?" combined with the plural countable noun.
Singular          Plural
one dog           two dogs
one horse         two horses
one man           two men
one idea           two ideas
one shop          two shops

Examples

  •     She has three dogs.
  •     I own a house.
  •     I would like two books please.
  •     How many friends do you have?

Uncountable nouns
Uncountable nouns are for the things that we cannot count with numbers. They may be the names for abstract ideas or qualities or for physical objects that are too small or too amorphous to be counted (liquids, powders, gases, etc.). Uncountable nouns are used with a singular verb. They usually do not have a plural form.
Examples

  •     tea
  •     sugar
  •     water
  •     air
  •     rice
  •     beauty
  •     anger
  •     fear
  •     love
  •     money
  •     research
  •     safety
  •     evidence

We cannot use a/an with these nouns. To express a quantity of an uncountable noun, use a word or expression like some, a lot of, much, a bit of, a great deal of , or else use an exact measurement like a cup of, a bag of, 1kg of, 1L of, a handful of, a pinch of, an hour of, a day of. If you want to about the quantity of an uncountable noun, you ask "How much?"
Examples

  •     There has been a lot of research into the causes of this disease.
  •     He gave me a great deal of advice before my interview.
  •     Can you give me some information about uncountable nouns?
  •     He did not have much sugar left.
  •     Measure 1 cup of water, 300g of flour, and 1 teaspoon of salt.
  •     How much rice do you want?

Tricky spots
Some nouns are countable in other languages but uncountable in English. They must follow the rules for uncountable nouns. The most common ones are:
accommodation, advice, baggage, behavior, bread, furniture, information, luggage, news, progress, traffic, travel, trouble, weather, work
Examples

  •     I would like to give you some advice.
  •     How much bread should I bring?
  •     I didn't make much progress today.
  •     This looks like a lot of trouble to me.
  •     We did an hour of work yesterday.

Be careful with the noun hair which is normally uncountable in English, so it is not used in the plural. It can be countable only when referring to individual hairs.
Examples :

  •     She has long blond hair.
  •     The child's hair was curly.
  •     I washed my hair yesterday.
  •     My father is getting a few grey hairs now. (refers to individual hairs)
  •     I found a hair in my soup! (refers to a single strand of hair)

Sentence Pattern : Subject, Verb, Complement, Modifier

sentence pattern is patterns of sentences in English that consists of 4 elements of the subject , verb , complement , modifier.
      subject
subjects is a people, animal or object perform an activities. in the English sentence must have a subject and a predicate ( verb ) , the subject is the perpetrator . Subjects can be a single noun ( singular ) , example , coffee is delicious . Subjects can also be a noun phrase ( noun phrase ) , for example, the book is on the table . Noun phrase that is used for the subject should not be preceded by a preposition .
      Verb
The verb follows the subject: it generally shows the action of the sentence. NOTE:Every sentence must have a verb. The verb may be a single word.
example :
John drives too fast.
They hate spinach.
The verb may be a verb phrase. A verb phrase consists of one or more
auxiliaries and one main verb. The auxiliaries always precede the main
verb.
example :
John is going to Miami tomorrow. (auxiliary-is, main verb-going)
Jane has been reading that book. (auxiliaries-has. been; main verb-reading)=present perfact countineus.
Complement:
A complement completes the verb. It is similar to the subject because it is usually a noun or noun phrase; however, it generally follows the verb when the sentence is in the active voice. NOTE: Every sentence does not require a complement. The complement CANNOT begin with a preposition. A complement answers the question what? or whom?
Examples of complements:
They called Mary yesterday. (Whom did they call?)
He was smoking a cigarette. (What was he smoking?)
            Modifier:
A modifier tells the time, place, or manner of the action. Very often it is a prepositional phrase. A prepositional phrase is a group of words that begins with a preposition and ends with a noun.
Example of Modifier :
She drove the car on Main Street. (Where did she drive?)
(on Main Street: Modifier of place )
We ate dinner at seven o’clock. (When did we eat dinner?)
(at seven o’clock: Modifier of time)

TOEFL

What Is TOEFL?
The  TOEFL  is the product of the Educational Testing Service (ETS). TOEFL, pronounced "toe-full", evaluates the potential success of an individual to use and understand standard American English at a college level. TOEFL is required for non-native applicants at many US and other English-speaking colleges and universities. The Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) is widely used by colleges and universities, scholarship agencies, and professional licensing organizations to assess English language proficiency. Four skills are tested in TOEFL: Listening, Structure, Reading, and Writing. In the near future, Speaking will be added and Structure dispensed with. The test itself takes approximately four hours including the (required) computer tutorial.

Formats and Sections Of  TOEFL
The paper-based TOEFL (PBT) test consists of three sections, similar to the first three sections of the computer-based TOEFL test. The TOEFL PBT contains only multiple-choice questions.
- Listening Section of TOEFL
The Listening Section of TOEFL test is made up of three parts. In the first part you will hear short conversations usually containing two sentences which are followed by a single question. In the second part you will hear a longer dialogue between two people. After the dialogue you will hear four of five questions. Each of those questions is followed by four answers (A, B, C and D). Only one of those four answers is correct. You have to select the correct answer. In the final part of theListening Section you will hear longer pieces of spoken communication such as lectures, radio talks, TV announcements or other broadcasts. Each of those talks lasts between one to two minutes and it is delivered by a single speaker. After every piece of information you have listened to, you must answer four to five questions. There are also some questions that require you to re-arrange or match objects, phrases or words.

- Structure Section of TOEFL
In the Structure Section of TOEFL you have to demonstrate your knowledge and skills in vocabulary, grammar and proper usage of standard North American written English. You will have to recognize vocabulary items of an academic nature, this means, there will be subjects related to science, the arts, literature, culture and history. To answer the questions correctly it will be sufficient if you have an average level of knowledge of those subjects. You will find two types of questions in the Structure Section of the TOEFL test. The first question type is a sentence containing a gap. You must select a word or phrase that fills in the gap appropriately. The second question type can be called "Errors in Sentences". Those questions consist of complete sentences with four separate underlined words. You must select which of the four underlinded words or word combinations contains an error in grammar or usage.

- Reading Section of TOEFL
In the Reading Section of TOEFL you will find short passages similar to the sort of texts used for academic purposes in the US, Canada or other internationally recognized universities. For example there will be texts about the arts, literature, biography of important people, science and scientific research as well as history related to North America. Even if you know a lot about any of the subjects covered in the Reading Section of TOEFL test, it will not necessarily be to your advantage in answering the questions correctly because the TOEFL measures your English language proficiency rather than your knowledge of a specific area. After all, you take the TOEFL test before you actually start your study program at university. So, your success on the TOEFL Reading Section depends on how well you understand the text passages and the attached questions. In addition there are also a number of computer-specific questions that either require you to match a particular word, phrase or paragraph from the text with a definition or to insert a sentence in the text where it is most appropriate.

- Writing Section of TOEFL
In the Writing Section of TOEFL you have to compose an essay based on one single assigned topic. Your essay should include such elements as original thought, analysis, examples, evidence and organization in English. You can choose between composing your essay at a computer or using the traditional hand-written format. Because computer-adaptive testing is not possible on the paper-based TOEFL test (PBT), the PBT has three question difficulty levels. Thirty percent of PBT TOEFL test questions are categorized as easy, forty percent are medium and thirty percent are difficult. At the beginning of each section you will find easy-level questions which are followed by medium-level questions and difficult questions at the end.

LIBURAN TAMAN WISATA ALAM MAGROV

Finally, kesampean juga mengunjungi Taman Wisata Alam Angke Kapuk, setelah ditunda dan gagal berulang kali.

Singkat cerita, saya berhasil ngomporin teman-teman.

Taraaaa….ketemu. Didepannya tertulis “bla..blaa..blaa Muara Angke..bla..bla..”

“Yayyy..kita sampai”

“Owh..ini tho hutan mangrovenya. Ayo kita kemooon”.

Kami terlalu bersemangat!

Haha..astaga.

Singkat kata, kami berhasil masuk – HUTAN MANGROVE.

A : “aaa iii uuu ee oooo…bla bla bla?
 B : owhh…bla bla laaaa laa laa..
C : haaa…?? (kira kira seperti itulah perundingannya). Ditengah perundingan itu saya putuskan menelpon pengembang TWA langsung (kebetulan tertera di brosur yang bapak kasih).

Kemudian, “Oke fix, kita salah tempat. Kita harus keluar dari sini lalu naik angkot lagi buat kesana. Anggap saja yang ini sebagai pemanasan.. ahhaha..” untung ga ada yang menuntut kegagalan saya sebagai guide #lapkeringat.

“Kan kita udah masuk nih, nanti disana bayar lagi gak?” tanya satrio. “Uuuumm…sepertinya sih bayar lagi deh, kan beda tempat.” saya mencoba memberikan informasi yang semoga tidak salah. Maka kamipun beriringan menuju pintu keluar.

Dan AKHIRNYA JENG,, JENG,, JENG,, sampai juga di TAMAN WISATA ALAM MAGROVE. Masuk TWA, kita dikenai biaya sebesar Rp 15.000,-/orang.

Lanjut, kita menuju gerbang masuk.

Lain waktu pengen main kesana lagi.
